The Locals know the drill: arrive early and get the pick of the best fish on the menu.  There are about eight freshly caught varieties to choose from, as well as the specials and burgers, pastas, curries and steaks. A swordfish special on a bed of apple, parsnip and coconut puree, with a pile of fennel, ruby  red grapefruit and crisp capers on top is the best fish meal my partner has ever eaten – he’s so excited he’s tweeting at the table. Eye fillet is topped with rosemary salt and truffle oil and comes with mash, green beans, mushrooms and leeks. Succulent  to the last scrape.

<h2>ROCKIN ROOTS AND STOMPIN GROOVES</h2>
“Best new talent best male vocalist” Newcastle blues fest 2007

“1 man a zillion trillion sounds” UQ union 2004
<h2>NEWS! “TRANSIT BANDIT” OUT APRIL 08</h2>
After a massive 3 years of solid touring around OZ clocking up 300 shows and covering 100,000kms in his Transit van, it is only fitting Geoff's new album would be titled "Transit Bandit. Produced by Steve James at Rockinghorse studios Byron Bay the album features Geoff in both solo and band format. A massive national tour is scheduled for 2008 to promote its arrival.
<h2>HYPE</h2>
With his individual approach Turnbull has received critically acclaimed reviews, being rated alongside the greats of Ben Harper, John Butler &amp; Xavier Rudd but all have outlined the same explosive element that Turnbull carries like no other.
Turnbull has a volatile streak which gives him an explosive nature, “an unexpected eruption of strumming burst out midway through the set, draws awe- struck gasps and spontaneous applause” Fasterlouder 2005.
“All in all Turnbull’s refreshing live approach imbues him with a spontaneity the didactic John Butler can only dream about” Rave mag ‘2004’.
“Turnbull has more variation &amp; the tendency towards the ferocious which John Butler &amp; Rudd do not have making for a more interesting performance” Fasterlouder 2005.
“Turnbull’s songs are sparse, personal, intimate and pure, without the ego tripping rockstar posture and is certainly a musician who releases his demons in a subversive, energetic live performance” Beat 2004.
<h2>BACKGROUND</h2>
Whilst promoting his first 2 albums Geoff has slotted major festivals including; Festival Of The Sun, Day In The Vines, Trial Bay Music Festival, Port Fairy Folk Festival, Nimbin Mardigrass, Brisbane’s Urban Blues &amp; Roots festival, Castlemaine State Festival, Newcastle Blues Festival, and was awarded ‘Best New Talent’ &amp; ‘Best Male Vocalist’ at the Newcastle Blues Festival ‘07’.
He has also supported some top Aussie acts including; COG, Gotye, Lior, The Fumes, Kid Confucious, Butterfingers, Clare Bowditch, Saritah, Dallas Frasca, Vasco Era, Ash Grunwald, The Mess Hall, Carus, Mick Hart.

Geoff grew up on the outskirts of Kempsey N.S.W, and was influenced by many of the fine musicians that had settled there for the quieter life. Musical styles came many and varied, with bluegrass, folk and rock being apart of the family jam sessions. As the youngest sibling major influences came from his two older brothers (Simon-Drums and Jason-Guitar) who performed regularly in the band Midian. Many of Geoff's rhythmic songs are the result of drum tuition from Simon.

Whilst Geoff is now undertaking a PHD looking into clinical treatments for Huntington's disease. Turnbull still finds time to record albums (6 to date), and build a loyal following by touring extensively around Australia. He does this a solo performer, as a brother in the turnbull sessions (<a href="http://www.turnbullsessions.com/">www.turnbullsessions.com</a>) outfit and as a member of the Introduced Species (<a href="http://www.introducedspecies.net/">www.introducedspecies.net</a>)
<h2>PERFORMANCE</h2>
Geoff's lap steel slide, acoustic tapping slide and mind rattling rhythm based acoustic has him titled as a captivator of audiences (Townsville bulletin) with a unique gift for music (Lismore Uni). His variation in styles, rhythm and attack provides a show that never fails to intrigue. Soothing melodies captivate the audience, raw but directed outbursts chill spines and eccentric rhythms inspire trancelike dance sessions. Layering via multiple pickups allows eclectic effects to be layered over sensual acoustic sounds. Soulful vocals complement the music and top this unique performer's act.
Turnbull is renowned for his world class quality live show and is best summed up by the following live reviews;
"Comparisons to blues and roots men like John Butler and Xavier Rudd are inevitable but are largely misleading. Turnbull is much more rhythm-driven and writes songs so intricate and lengthy, they make Butler seem concise. Turnbull also has much more variation in his music than Rudd, making for a more interesting performance. Turnbull also has a tendency towards the ferocious that both Rudd and Butler do not have: an unexpected eruption of rapid strumming burst out midway through the set, drawings awe-struck gasps and spontaneous applause. The only obstacle to Turnbull replacing John Butler as the figurehead of Australian roots and blues is his fondness for long sections of guitar solos, therefore making commercial radio an unlikely prospect for him. For mine, I hope he succeeds without changing his style, which is individual, definitive and electrifying" LIVE @ Oxford Tavern, 06/07/2005 Ginger Ninja www.fasterlouder.com
"Mesmerizes his audience w/ frenetic strumming and wicked beats" Deborah Swain Tsunami Magazine May 2004
"captives his audiences and takes them on a musical journey" Lismore Union 2003

Surprisingly atypical in sound for the roots genre, there are lovingly fashioned songs within, with three kindred songwriters collaborating on conscious, upbeat tunes, not for glory, but for love. Mighty sounds, wailing horns, and big band energy to burn - more good vibes than a long week of Saturdays!</em></strong>

Mission Statement
“66 Days on Route 66” revitalizes the American road trip, as seen though the lens of an Australian singer-songwriter navigating a new identity in a new land. “66 Days on Route 66” puts international best-selling Australian musician, Grayson, on the classic American road trip for an unforgettable inside look at his adventures while traveling gig to gig at over 50 live shows at various venues along the old mother road. Starting in Chicago, Illinois on July 8, 2011 then motoring west through Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and ending in Santa Monica, California on September 11, 2011, the tour passes through 100 towns &amp; cities en route.
“66 Days on Route 66” is both a video series and live music tour that pieces back together the forgotten trail. Capturing Grayson’s experiences candidly in documentary-style format “66 Days on Route 66” re-personalizes legends from the road, gig by gig, town by town, story by story. International chart-topping artist Grayson, pens the next sentence in the nation’s narrative about our love affair with this most musical of highways, bringing his natural, bright folk/rock sensibilities to the festivals, radio shows, saloons and cafes along the way. And he will see this frontier in the way the original migrants of the Dust Bowl might have seen it—through the lens of someone navigating a new identity in a new land. Offering his fresh perspective on traditional Americana, “66 Days on Route 66” gives a front row seat to Grayson’s dis-coveries of this nation’s historic landmarks in search of the people living, working, and succeeding at the time honored American dream.
What is “66 days on route 66”?
The journey will chronicle not only Grayson’s discovery of the behind-the-scenes America that we don’t really know, but also his own self-discovery, as he learns more of who he really is, as a musician, as a visitor, and as a human being. Through a series of vignettes and short-take interviews, Grayson will share his perspective and views of the American Dream, Route 66, and not just what he is offering to America through this tour, but what he believes America offers up to him in return.
WHO IS GRAYSON?
Although thousands of miles away from his own Highway 1, this isn’t the first time Grayson has riveted international audiences. On his tour of Europe in 2008, Grayson secured a contract with Rifle Range Records, moving to Ireland at the beginning of 2009 to spend most of the year recording his debut album "Somewhere In The Night". Later in 2009, Grayson toured Europe with some of the biggest names in Irish music. During this time, he also played his own sold-out solo shows. Upon release, Grayson’s first single, "Stand Clear", entered the Top 40 Commercial Charts and reached #1 on the Indie Download Charts in Ireland.
Grayson is a true storyteller. It’s not only his songs that speak to us in first person, telling tales of heartfelt experiences, but also the moments in between. Capturing those precious moments, Grayson connects directly with his live audience in a natural dialogue, creating a more familiar relationship with his listeners, transforming the performer-audience interaction into peer-to-peer. He embraces the spotlight, yet sustains his genuine, well-liked character seamlessly from stage to film to real life. Grayson is a gregarious soul whose catchy humour endears him to his admiring spectators who wait to hear what he might say or sing next.
In 2010, Grayson returned to Australia to tour with Jimmy Barnes, The Whitlams and Vanessa Amorosi. In his native Australia, his second single "Change" went to #1 on the ARIA Physical Singles Chart and #8 on the ARIA Hit Seekers Chart. Later in 2010 Grayson toured USA with much success. Grayson is currently recording his 2nd full-length album “Chronology” due out in July and is releasing it on this “66 Days on Route 66” American Tour.
Why Route 66?
There are Main Streets and Wall Streets; roads not taken and roads to success, but there was and will only be one Mother Road. In a time when people’s most poignant moments are often shared only within the labyrinth that we know as the information superhighway, “66 Days on Route 66” reminds us to return to the beauty of the original American highway — our glorious Route 66.
Chicago St Louis Kansas City
Grayson’s tour gives us access to 12 major areas from America’s heartland to the West Coast. “66 Days on Route 66” will spend time in:
However, it’s the stops in the smaller towns along the way where the tour provides a passage way to untapped markets:
